Choosing Hair Memorial Jewellery
Choosing jewellery made with a loved one’s hair is deeply personal. Whether you have a small lock of hair, a few strands or pet fur, we can help you choose a design and the best way to incorporate it into your memorial jewellery.
Yes. We can create memorial jewellery using human hair as well as fur from a much-loved pet.
The hair can be fine, coarse, short or long. Only a very small amount is needed, so even just a few precious strands can be incorporated into your memorial jewellery.
A small amount of hair is carefully placed within a discreet compartment inside the jewellery. The compartment is then permanently sealed to keep the hair safely contained within the piece.
This allows us to create hair memorial jewellery without setting the hair into resin or another poured material. Our memorial jewellery is completely resin-free.
No. Our hair memorial jewellery is designed to look like traditional jewellery, with the hair safely contained within a hidden compartment that is permanently sealed.
This creates a very discreet memorial. To anyone else it simply looks like a beautiful piece of jewellery, while you know that the hair is held safely inside.
We normally ask for a small pinch of hair, but if you have less than this, that’s absolutely fine. We can work with any amount that you send us.
Only a small amount is needed for each piece, and any hair we do not use is carefully returned to you with your finished jewellery.
Yes. You can have both ashes and hair incorporated into the same piece of memorial jewellery, or we can include hair from more than one person.
This can be a particularly meaningful way to keep loved ones together within one ring, necklace, pendant, bracelet or other suitable piece of jewellery.
Absolutely. You don’t need to know exactly what you want before speaking to us. Our experienced team can help you compare designs, precious metals, gemstones and personalisation, as well as answer any questions you have about using the hair you have available.
- Speak to us by phone, email or WhatsApp.
- Book a free video consultation from home.
- Visit our Worthing showroom to view jewellery samples in person.
- Bring family members with you and take as much time as you need.
HAIR MEMORIAL JEWELLERY
Hair memorial jewellery has a rich history. Queen Victoria famously wore jewellery containing a lock of Prince Albert’s hair after his death. Its popularity waned in the Victorian era, but hair memorial jewellery is now enjoying a revival as individuals look for unique ways to keep their loved ones close after they pass. It’s also a touching memorial gift for anyone who is grieving.
Hair memorial jewellery is the perfect way to keep a loved one close to your heart and a good option for those who may not have ashes available. Take your pick from a wide range of jewellery for special occasions or everyday wear. You'll also have your choice of precious metals, including gold and silver. And finally, you can customise your jewellery with engraving to make it completely unique to you. This makes an ideal gift for someone who is grieving a loss.
CREATING A LASTING TRIBUTE
These beautiful pieces of jewellery are made with a hidden compartment that only the wearer will ever need to know about. After hallmarking, the hollow compartment is then filled with the hair of your loved one. It's suitable for both pet and human hair. The compartment is permanently sealed to keep the hair safe. This makes a thoughtful and unique gift for anyone who has lost a loved one.
If you're looking for a special and unique way to memorialise a loved one, hair memorial jewellery is the perfect option. Create a family heirloom that may be passed down for generations, or create a piece of jewellery for a special occasion such as a wedding or graduation. This will allow you to keep your loved one's memory alive through a simple piece of handcrafted jewellery.
HAIR MEMORIAL JEWELLERY FAQ
Absolutely! All jewellery within this collection can be made with hair instead of ashes. You can also have ashes and hair if you want to.
We ask for a pinch of hair making our jewellery. If you don't have a pinch that's ok, we can work with any amount that you send us.
We don't believe resin is suitable for jewellery that needs to last so we don't work with resin or make hair jewellery with resin. The problem with resin is that colours fade in daylight due to the effects of UV light. Also you can't get resin wet and it is easily scratched. Our jewellery is designed to last a life time so we only use suitable materials.
Our jewellery with hair is designed to look like traditional jewellery so we place the hair inside the jewellery within hidden compartments that are permanently sealed. As as result you won't be able to see the hair but you will get as much comfort by knowing it is there as you would for seeing the hair.
Yes you can have more than one persons hair within any of our styles of jewellery that are suitable for hair. Our process to put hair within a ring is the same as the process to put hair into one of our necklaces, pendants or bracelets.
